Elation Health Medical Billing and RCM Support for Primary Care Practices
We work inside your Elation Health account under named logins you create, after a BAA is signed. We check codes, clear held claims, post remittances, and work denials and A/R.

In short: we step into the billing queues of your Elation Health account with our own named, two-step logins and follow your clearinghouse and payer rules. We claim no partnership with Elation Health.
Already on this system? We work in it. No EHR, or tired of paying for one? Our billing clients get EHR or PM software free.
What Is Elation Health and Which Practices Use It?
Elation Health is a primary care EHR sold to independent practices. Its website calls the product an "AI-native EHR platform for primary care" and now sells it together with Elation Billing as one EHR and billing platform.
The vendor's primary care pages list family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, GYN and women's health, and geriatrics, plus direct primary care.
The vendor's billing form asks if a practice takes insurance only, insurance plus membership fees, membership only, or cash only. Our family medicine billing page covers the coding side.
| Name on Elation's site | What the vendor says | Why it matters for billing |
|---|---|---|
| Elation Billing | Billing built into the EHR chart, from eligibility to claims to patient payments | Charges come from the visit note, so a coding gap starts in the chart |
| ERA posting | Electronic remittance posting to reconcile payments | Payments and adjustments land on claims without hand entry |
| Note Assist | AI help that drafts the visit note | The note feeds the suggested codes |
Does Elation Do Its Own Billing, and Where Does a Billing Partner Fit?
Elation sells billing software built into the EHR, and its pages describe the steps as code it, check it, send it and get paid. A billing partner fits in the queues those steps create: held claims, denials, partial payments and patient balances.
Practices choose how much runs automatically. Claims that meet a confidence threshold the practice sets go to submission, and exceptions are held and flagged for review. A press release dated October 15, 2026 adds that automated payment posting is in beta for new customers starting November 1, 2026. Your settings decide what lands in our queue.
We have no partnership with Elation Health.
How Do Claims Move from Elation Health to the Clearinghouse and Payer?
Per the vendor, a signed note becomes a coded claim, the claim is checked, and clean claims queue for a person to send.
The vendor says every claim is checked for eligibility, coding edits including NCCI, basic clearinghouse rules and payer-specific rules before it goes out. A claim scrubber catches common errors only, so we still read what is held.
We send through the clearinghouse your account already uses. Electronic payments return as an X12 835 ERA, and the vendor lists ERA posting as a feature.
The vendor's pages describe a primary care visit and a professional claim, not an institutional one, so we confirm institutional output at setup. CMS Medicare Claims Processing Manual chapter 25 describes Form CMS-1450, also called the UB-04, as the uniform institutional provider bill. Chapter 26 says professional and supplier claims on paper use Form CMS-1500. If you bill facility fees, confirm with Elation which claim types your account produces. Our hospital and facility billing page covers that work.
What Access Does a Billing Partner Need in Elation Health?
We need named user accounts that your administrator creates, with permissions limited to billing. No one on our team logs in before the Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is signed.
Data protection is on the security page.
What Do We Do Inside Elation Health?
Typical tasks:
- Check Elation's suggested codes against the note, including the wellness visit codes the vendor says its AI flags
- Fix claims held for review so claims go out within 24 hours of charge entry
- Post ERA payments and adjustments, and handle partial payments
- Work denials within 48 hours, with the reason code and a recorded next step
- Send patient statements in the formats your account supports; the vendor lists mailed and email statements and online payment through Stripe
See denial management for how that work is organized.
Which Elation Health Reports Matter for Denial and A/R Tracking?
We pull reports by purpose. The vendor's billing pages give no report titles, so we confirm the exact screens in your account.
| Purpose | What it tells you | What we confirm in your account |
|---|---|---|
| Charge lag | Days from visit to a billed claim | Which date fields the export holds |
| Claim status | Which claims are held, sent, rejected or paid | Whether held claims show the reason the checks flagged |
| A/R aging by payer | Unpaid balances by payer and age | Whether insurance and patient balances split |
| Denial trends | Which codes and payers drive denials | Whether denial reasons export with CARC and RARC codes |
| Payment variance | Paid amount against the fee schedule | Whether the schedule matches the contract |
A CARC explains why an amount was adjusted and a RARC adds detail. Exact report names are covered when your administrator shows us the screens at setup.
What Billing Mistakes Are Common in Elation Health?
We attribute no defects to Elation. These are the checks we run on any chart-driven claim, tied to what the vendor describes.
| Check | Why we run it |
|---|---|
| Suggested codes against the note | The vendor says AI drafts codes from the signed note, informed by how the practice coded similar visits. A past error can repeat, so we sample against documentation. |
| Diagnosis pointers | CMS-1500 item 24E holds the diagnosis pointer for each service line, per CMS manual chapter 26. |
| Modifiers and NCCI | The vendor says NCCI edits run before submission. The modifier decision still depends on the documentation. |
| Held claims | Claims below the practice's confidence threshold are held. A held claim is unbilled money until someone releases it. |
| Membership and insurance split | In a hybrid practice, membership fees are not claims. We bill payers only for covered services. |
Does Value-Based Care Change the Billing Work?
Elation's text says its EHR supports organizations in value-based payment structures, with population health management and analytics tools. Whether contracts pay on quality, visits or both depends on the contract, not the software.
For quality reporting see MIPS and MACRA reporting.

Common Questions
Straight answers from the team that does the work.
Ask a billing lead directly. A 20-minute call, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Eastern.
01Can an outside billing company work inside Elation Health?
Yes, if your organization creates accounts for them. Your administrator adds named, role-based users after a Business Associate Agreement is signed. Each person has a two-step login and nobody shares credentials. Your staff can see who did what. We have no partnership with Elation Health.
02What access does a billing partner need in Elation Health?
Named accounts with permissions limited to billing tasks: claims, payments, denials and patient balances. Your administrator decides the roles. We write down at setup which work queues we handle and which stay with your staff, and the account stays under your control.
03Which Elation Health reports matter for denial and A/R tracking?
The ones that show charge lag, claim status, A/R aging by payer, denial reasons and payment variance. Elation's pages describe payment tracking and denial handling but give no report titles, so we confirm the exact screens and exports with your administrator at setup.
04How do claims move from Elation Health to the clearinghouse and payer?
Elation says a signed note becomes a coded claim, is checked against eligibility, coding edits and payer rules, then queues for submission. Practices set which claims go automatically. We use the clearinghouse your account already has.
05How does Elation Health post ERA and 835 remittances?
The vendor lists ERA posting as a feature, and its October 15, 2026 release says automated payment posting is in beta for new customers from November 1, 2026. Partial payments and denials go to a person. We post and reconcile what falls to us.
06What billing mistakes are common in Elation Health (charge capture, modifiers, demographics)?
We do not blame the software. We check suggested codes against the note, diagnosis pointers, modifiers, held claims and registration data. Charge capture starts in the chart, so a missed service in the note becomes a missing charge. Eligibility only helps when the plan on file is current.
07Is Elation Health data safe with an offsite billing team under a BAA?
A BAA is signed before any access. Our staff complete HIPAA training and sign NDAs, every login uses two-step login, backups are encrypted and a compliance officer oversees the program. The practice controls account permissions in Elation and can remove access at any time.
08Does Elation Health handle institutional UB-04 claims or only professional claims?
Elation's pages describe primary care visits and professional billing, and do not describe UB-04 institutional claims, so we confirm at setup what your build produces. CMS calls Form CMS-1450, the UB-04, the uniform institutional bill. Ask Elation which claim types your account supports before you plan facility billing.
09How do we track out-of-network claims and appeals in Elation Health?
We keep a separate work list of out-of-network claims by payer, with the date each appeal or negotiation window closes. Elation's pages describe no out-of-network module, so deadlines live in our work list and claim notes. See out-of-network billing and IDR.
10How long does it take to move billing to a new vendor while staying on Elation Health?
It depends on how many open claims, which queues move and how much automation your account runs. Scope and reporting are agreed at setup. The sequence is the BAA, named accounts, a split of work lists and a handover of open denials and A/R by payer.
11What does outsourcing billing cost for an Elation Health practice or facility?
Our billing fee is a percentage of collections, and the current range is on the pricing page. It does not depend on the EHR. Elation's own pricing is a custom quote by practice size, and that is a separate cost paid to Elation.
12Is there a billing company that works with Elation Health?
Yes. Nucleus Align works inside Elation Health on accounts you create, so you keep your system. We work the billing queues you assign in your Elation Health account, covering claim checks, remit posting, denials and A/R for a primary care practice. Claims go out within 24 hours of charge entry and denials are worked within 48 hours.
